Positive Start Daily Schedule
Positive Start Family Child Care offers a planned Early Childhood Curriculum in a relaxed home setting aligned with the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards. The program will focus on the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of the child incorporating both structured and unstructured activities. The program allows for flexibility.
All daily lessons and activities are intentionally designed to help your child gain proficiency in the skills needed to support lifelong success in learning. Children thrive under a balance of active and quiet times. Children learn best actively engaging with people and objects in their environment, thriving under a balance of active and quiet times. Children need to have many opportunities for fun, interesting and hands-on experiences with a wide range of materials as they explore concepts through play. They need opportunities to interact with other children and adults in a variety of ways, and also to pursue their own interests as individuals. Children learn best by “doing”, whether it be painting, assembling puzzles, making pretend, cuddling for a story, computer or building with blocks. The activities provided for them are challenging and fun! They allow room for the children to be creative. They help the children build a strong sense of their own individuality and self esteem. The most important part of our day however, is play. Children are encouraged to explore and develop at their own pace and interest level. Emphasis is on the "process" rather than the "product" which helps a child learn, problem solve or simply make a friend.
A schedule helps the day flow more smoothly and allows the children to anticipate upcoming activities. Our days are flexible in order to allow for spontaneous play. Following is a schedule of a typical day at Positive Start.
